Ahmedabad, April 17: In a crucial encounter at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Delhi Capitals (DC) have won the toss and elected to bowl first against Gujarat Titans (GT) in match 32 of IPL 2024 on Wednesday evening.

Currently placed at sixth and ninth positions respectively in the points table, GT and DC are geared up for a significant showdown. GT, the reigning champions of IPL 2022, hold a 2-1 advantage over DC in their head-to-head encounters.

The match will unfold on pitch number four, featuring 100% black soil, with dew expected to play a significant role. This particular pitch, debuting in IPL 2024, promises a favorable batting surface, likely to offer assistance to the batsmen.

For DC, the absence of David Warner, who sustained a left finger injury during their recent victory over Lucknow Super Giants, is notable. Warner’s void in the lineup sees seam-bowling all-rounder Sumit Kumar stepping in, alongside young sensation Jake Fraser-McGurk, set to open alongside Prithvi Shaw.

DC skipper Rishabh Pant, eyeing a positive outcome, expressed confidence in his team’s batting prowess and emphasized the importance of chasing on an unknown pitch. Pant acknowledged the team’s progress in addressing concerns over death bowling, aiming to build momentum with each game.

On the GT front, the return of Wriddhiman Saha and David Miller from injuries adds depth to the squad. Fast-bowler Sandeep Warrier replaces veteran pacer Umesh Yadav, injecting further vitality into the GT lineup.

GT captain Shubman Gill, while acknowledging the splendid support at the magnificent stadium, remains optimistic about his team’s performance despite recent setbacks. Gill noted the absence of dew during the previous night and anticipates a similar scenario during the match.
