Amaravati, April 28: In a recent development, Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee chief, Y. S. Sharmila Reddy, launched a scathing attack on her brother and the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. Sharmila reiterated her stance, claiming that Jagan was the mastermind behind the inclusion of their late father, Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy (YSR), in the ongoing disproportionate assets cases investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Allegations and Denials
Denying the allegations put forth by Jagan, Sharmila emphasized that the Congress party had no role in the inclusion of YSR’s name in the FIRs. She pointed fingers at Jagan, alleging that it was him who orchestrated the filing of a petition by Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy to add YSR’s name to the cases. Interestingly, Sharmila revealed that Sudhakar Reddy was promptly rewarded with the prestigious post of Additional Advocate General merely six days after Jagan assumed office as the Chief Minister.
Political Maneuvering Unveiled
Sharmila further emphasized the suspicious timing of Sudhakar Reddy’s appointment, insinuating a quid pro quo arrangement between him and Jagan. She questioned the logic behind rewarding someone who allegedly implicated his own father in legal troubles. According to Sharmila, Sudhakar Reddy’s petitions across various judicial forums sought to include YSR’s name in the charge sheet, with the perceived objective of jeopardizing Jagan’s chances of securing bail.
Legal Backlash
While Sharmila claimed that the CBI had not originally included YSR’s name in the FIRs, she pointed out Sudhakar Reddy’s relentless efforts to push for it through petitions filed in multiple courts. Despite dismissals by the CBI court and the High Court, the Supreme Court opted to proceed with the investigation, leaving the matter open-ended.
Rebuttal and Counterclaims
In response to Sharmila’s allegations, Sudhakar Reddy vehemently denied any ulterior motives and asserted that he held profound respect for YSR. He challenged Sharmila to substantiate her claims with concrete evidence rather than resorting to baseless accusations. Sudhakar Reddy maintained that his legal actions were driven solely by the pursuit of justice and accountability.
