Nandyal, Andhra Pradesh – The Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued directives for disciplinary action against Superintendent of Police Raghuveer Reddy in Nandyal, Andhra Pradesh, citing a failure to uphold the election code of conduct.
The ECI instructed the Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police to initiate charges against the SP and further ordered a departmental inquiry into the conduct of SP Raghuveer Reddy, SDPO Ravindernath Reddy, and CI Raja Reddy.
Authorities have mandated the police chief to report back to the ECI regarding the actions taken against the implicated officials.
The ECI expressed grave concern over an incident that occurred on Saturday, wherein actor Allu Arjun visited Nandyal without obtaining requisite permissions from the appropriate authorities.
Despite Section 144 being enforced, a substantial crowd of the actor’s fans gathered, and the police allegedly failed to manage the situation.
In response, the police registered a case against Allu Arjun and Nandyal MLA and YSR Congress candidate Silpa Ravi under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code for disobedience to a public servant’s order.
Allu Arjun visited the MLA’s residence on the final day of campaigning to extend his support. His presence drew a large gathering outside the MLA’s house, where he appeared on the balcony alongside Silpa Ravi and family, acknowledging the enthusiastic crowd.
Silpa Ravi, also known as Singareddy Ravichandra Kishore Reddy, is contesting for re-election as the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) candidate in the upcoming May 13 elections.
Expressing gratitude, Allu Arjun took to social media to thank the people of Nandyal for their warm reception and Silpa Ravi for her hospitality, extending his unwavering support to her in the elections and beyond.
