Hyderabad, May 22, 2024 — Congress leader Sonia Gandhi is set to visit Telangana on June 2nd to participate in the grand Telangana Emergence Day celebrations. The state of Telangana was formed under the Congress government during the UPA regime, and this visit marks a significant return for the party, which has not held power in the state for nearly a decade.

Following the recent assembly elections, Congress has reclaimed governance in Telangana. In a recent cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, plans were made to celebrate Telangana Emergence Day on a grand scale. Sonia Gandhi has been invited as the chief guest for the occasion, underscoring the Congress party’s pivotal role in the state’s formation.

A highlight of the celebrations will be the unveiling of the Telangana state anthem by Sonia Gandhi. The official anthem, titled “Jaya Jaya Hey Telangana,” was written by renowned poet and lyricist Ande Sri and officially approved by the cabinet on February 4th. The song, which has undergone minor revisions to better reflect the current context, has a final version approximately 1.5 minutes in length. The music for the anthem is composed by acclaimed film music director MM Keeravani.

The government’s decision to invite Sonia Gandhi and unveil the state anthem during the celebrations underscores its commitment to honoring the state’s history and cultural heritage. The Telangana Emergence Day event promises to be a significant and symbolic occasion for the newly formed government and the people of Telangana.
