Tirupati, May 27: Eight people lost their lives in two separate road accidents in Andhra Pradesh on Monday, police reported.
In the first incident, a car overturned after hitting a road divider in Tirupati district, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and injuring two others. The accident occurred on the Puthalapattu-Naidupeta highway near M. Kongaravaripalli in Chandragiri mandal early Monday morning. The car was traveling from Nellore to Vellore. The deceased have been identified as Seshaiah, his wife Jayanti, their relative Padmamma, and the car’s driver Sameer, all residents of Nellore district.
In a separate accident in Krishna district, four more people were killed and another was injured. According to the police, a car collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction after hitting a divider. This accident took place in Bapulapadu mandal on the Chennai-Kolkata National Highway. The car was heading towards Tamil Nadu from Kovuru. The victims have been identified as Swaminathan (35), Gopi (31), Radha Priya (14), and Rakesh (12). The injured person was admitted to Vijayawada government hospital.
In another accident in Tirupati district, two individuals escaped with minor injuries when their car caught fire after overturning due to a collision with a divider. The car rolled to the other side of the road and caught fire, but both occupants managed to escape before the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames. They sustained minor injuries and were taken to a hospital.
These tragic incidents highlight the ongoing challenges of road safety in the region. Authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent such accidents in the future.
