Hyderabad, June 4 – The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has once again retained the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat. AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi emerged victorious with a record margin of over 3.38 lakh votes, marking his fifth consecutive win.

Despite projections of a close contest, the election turned out to be one-sided. Owaisi polled 6,61,981 votes, defeating his nearest rival, Kompella Madhavi Latha of the BJP, who secured 3,23,894 votes.

The AIMIM stronghold has never been lost since 1984, and Owaisi’s victory margin in this election is the highest ever in the constituency.

This election drew national attention, with the BJP fielding entrepreneur and classical dancer Madhavi Latha. High-profile campaigns were conducted by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Central Minister Anurag Singh Thakur. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also addressed a public meeting in Hyderabad in support of the BJP candidates.

Despite the high-profile campaigning and national attention, the BJP candidate sparked controversy with her actions during a religious procession and on polling day, leading to police action.

Owaisi expressed his gratitude to the people of Hyderabad for the historic win, especially thanking women, youth, first-time voters, and the elderly.

The AIMIM’s strength in the Assembly rose to seven from its earlier highest tally of five, further consolidating its position following the delimitation of constituencies in 2008.
