Amaravati, June 4 – Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N. Chandrababu Naidu is set to make a triumphant return to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly as Chief Minister, fulfilling a vow he made two-and-a-half years ago. This follows a superb performance by the TDP in the recent elections.

In November 2021, Naidu had faced public humiliation in the Assembly at the hands of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MLAs, who made personal remarks about his wife, Bhuvaneswari. The seasoned politician likened the Assembly to the ‘Kaurava Sabha’ and vowed to boycott it until 2024.

The Assembly had witnessed dramatic scenes when Naidu, deeply perturbed by the insults, staged a walkout during a discussion on the agriculture sector. He vowed to return to the House only as a Chief Minister.

Despite his wife never interfering in politics, Naidu claimed that the YSRCP leaders dragged her name into the fray and resorted to character assassination. He appealed to the people to support him in his fight for ‘dharma’.

The debate in the Assembly saw YSRCP MLAs alleging Naidu’s involvement in the murder of Vangaveeti Mohan Ranga and Alimineti Madhava Reddy. They also blamed him for the downfall of his father-in-law, N.T. Rama Rao.

After nearly four decades in politics, Naidu expressed regret over the humiliation he faced. He swore not to return to the House until he becomes the Chief Minister, a vow he is now set to fulfill.
