Vijayawada, June 7, 2024 — N. Chandrababu Naidu, President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), is set to take the oath as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on June 12. The swearing-in ceremony will commence at 11:27 a.m., an auspicious time selected by his advisors, and will be held near Kesarapalli IT Park, close to the Gannavaram Airport in Vijayawada.
Governor S. Abdul Nazeer will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Naidu. The ceremony is expected to be attended by a host of dignitaries, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several Union Cabinet ministers, chief ministers of various states, leaders from the BJP, and other NDA partners.
The choice of the venue, close to the airport, is aimed at minimizing inconvenience for the Prime Minister and other VIP attendees.
It remains unclear if some ministers will also take the oath alongside Naidu during the ceremony.
At 74, Naidu will be sworn in as Chief Minister for the fourth time. He previously served as the Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh from 1995 to 2004 and later as the Chief Minister of the residuary state from 2014 to 2019 following the bifurcation of the state.
The TDP-Jana Sena-BJP alliance secured a landslide victory in the recent elections, winning 164 of the 175 Assembly seats and 21 of the 25 Lok Sabha seats. The TDP alone claimed 135 Assembly seats and 16 Lok Sabha seats.
