New Delhi, June 7, 2024 — The Congress Party has launched a fierce attack on the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), branding it as the “Naidu Dependent Alliance or Nitish Dependent Alliance.” This criticism comes in the wake of the recent election results, which saw significant setbacks for the BJP.
Addressing the media, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera highlighted the BJP’s discontent following their defeat in key constituencies, including Ayodhya. “The people of Maharashtra and Ayodhya have rejected the BJP, leading them to lash out at the residents of Ayodhya in frustration,” Khera remarked. He further mocked the NDA, stating, “NDA means Naidu dependent alliance, NDA means Nitish dependent alliance,” targeting both BJP leaders and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Congress’s sharp critique follows PM-elect Narendra Modi’s unveiling of a new slogan for the NDA: “New India, Developed India and Aspirational India.” Khera accused the Modi government of disrespecting iconic historical figures like Mahatma Gandhi and Bhim Rao Ambedkar. He drew a controversial analogy between Modi’s gesture of bowing before the Constitution and the assassinations of Rajiv Gandhi and Mahatma Gandhi, suggesting a veiled threat to the Constitution under the current regime.
Khera emphasized that it was Congress leader Rahul Gandhi who consistently fought against what he termed as the ‘suppression’ of the Constitution. He praised Rahul Gandhi, party president Mallikarjun Kharge, and other leaders for their efforts to protect the Constitution during the election campaign.
The Congress’s attack coincides with Narendra Modi being chosen as the leader of the BJP and NDA Parliamentary party, paving the way for his third term as Prime Minister. Modi’s swearing-in ceremony is anticipated to follow soon.
