Antigua, June 23, 2024: In a thrilling T20 World Cup Super Eight match, India secured a commanding 50-run victory over Bangladesh. Following the match, West Indies cricket legend Sir Vivian Richards presented the Fielder of the Match medal to India’s Suryakumar Yadav for his outstanding fielding performance.

Despite the challenging windy conditions in Antigua, Suryakumar made a spectacular running catch to dismiss Litton Das, showcasing his agility and skill. The presentation was a special moment, as India’s fielding coach T Dilip had announced that Sir Vivian Richards, after whom the stadium is named, would be awarding the medal.

“Today we have a true legend, whose name is synonymous with fearless play and unmatched charisma on the field. A game-changer in every sense, who showed what it means to strive for greatness. It’s none other than Sir Vivian Richards,” said Dilip in a video shared by the BCCI on social media.

After presenting the medal, Richards humorously remarked, “I can only say that if the guys in Maroon don’t get it done, I will be back in your room,” eliciting laughter from the audience.

Richards also took a moment to praise Rishabh Pant for his remarkable comeback after his accident. “Pant, it’s great to see you back, man, after what you have been through. We would have missed the great talent and exactly what you have to offer in the future,” he said.

The West Indies great concluded by commending India’s overall performance in the tournament, highlighting their excellent play and team spirit.

This victory and recognition add to India’s momentum as they continue their campaign in the T20 World Cup.
