Former Union Minister Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju Appointed as TTD Chairman

In a significant appointment, former Union Minister Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju has been named the Chairman of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), the governing body managing the affairs of the renowned Tirumala Venkateswara Temple in Andhra Pradesh.

Biography of Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju

Born on June 26, 1951, in Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh, Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju hails from the royal family of Vizianagaram. He pursued his early education at Hyderabad Public School and later graduated from Andhra University.

Raju has had a long and distinguished political career. He was first elected to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 1978. Over the years, he held various ministerial portfolios in the state, including Finance and Revenue, and Excise and Commercial Tax. He joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in 1982 and has remained a loyal member since.

In 2014, Raju was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Vizianagaram constituency and was appointed as the Union Minister of Civil Aviation in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet. During his tenure, he was known for his dedication to improving the aviation sector and implementing people-oriented policies.

Raju has also been actively involved in social and educational initiatives in his region. He served as the Chairman of the Maharaja Alak Narayana Society of Arts and Science (MANSAS), overseeing several educational institutions in the Vizianagaram district
