Telangana Government Releases Guidelines for ₹2 Lakh Crop Loan Waiver Scheme

Hyderabad, July 15, 2024 – The Telangana government has unveiled the guidelines for its much-anticipated crop loan waiver scheme, targeting loans up to ₹2 lakhs per family taken between December 12, 2018, and December 13, 2023. This scheme is set to benefit numerous farmer families across the state.

Key Highlights of the Crop Loan Waiver Scheme:

  1. Eligibility Criteria:
  • The waiver applies to crop loans up to ₹2 lakhs per family.
  • Loans must have been taken between December 12, 2018, and December 13, 2023.
  • A ration card will be the standard document for identifying eligible farmer families.
  1. Exclusions:
  • Loans from Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Joint Liability Groups (JLGs), Rythu Mitra Groups (RMGs), LECs, and rescheduled loans are not eligible for the waiver.
  1. Implementation:
  • A dedicated web portal will be established to facilitate the crop loan waiver process.
  • The waiver amount will be credited directly to the beneficiaries’ loan accounts in phases.
  1. Support and Queries:
  • A special department will be set up to address farmers’ queries regarding the loan waiver.
  • Officials are mandated to resolve any farmer issues within 30 days.
  • Farmers can visit the web portal or contact mandal support centers for more details.

Government Commitment

Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao had earlier assured that the ₹2 lakh loan waiver for farmers would be implemented by August. He highlighted the government’s ongoing support for farmers, noting that over ₹7,000 crores have been deposited into farmers’ accounts under the Rythu Bandhu or Rythu Bharosa schemes since the government took office.
