Promotions Demanded for Reverted Power Engineers
Hyderabad, July 21: The State Power Engineers Association has called for the promotion of Telangana electricity employees who were unfairly reverted during the BRS government. The association highlighted the issue during a general body meeting held at the Genco Auditorium on Sunday. The meeting saw the participation of 800 engineers and was chaired by TGPEA President Ratnakar Rao.
During the meeting, several key decisions were made. The association demanded immediate action on transfers, promotions, and appointments within the power companies. They emphasized the need for transparency and fairness in these processes, ensuring that deserving employees are recognized and rewarded appropriately.
One of the significant demands was for the development of a new thermal plant to replace the old power plants in Ramagundam. The association insisted that this project should be managed under the auspices of Genco to maintain efficiency and standards.
Furthermore, the association raised concerns about the pension facilities for electricity employees. They urged the government to extend the pension benefits, which are provided to central and state government employees until August 31, 2004, to electricity employees who worked from February 1, 1999, to August 31, 2004. This demand aims to ensure that the employees who have dedicated their service during this period receive the financial security they deserve.
The association also expressed strong opposition to the involvement of Adani Power in the distribution and bill recovery in Hyderabad’s Old City. They insisted that only discoms should handle the distribution to ensure accountability and efficient service delivery.

The meeting was attended by several prominent figures, including A. Venkatanarayana Reddy, P. Sadanandam, K. Anjaiah, Sivashankar, Mangilal, Srinath Reddy, Jana Priya, Samya Naik, N. Suresh Kumar, and K. Venkateshwar. These office bearers and branch office bearers of power companies expressed their support for the resolutions passed during the meeting and emphasized the need for unity and collective action to achieve their goals.
TGPEA President Ratnakar Rao, addressing the gathering, stressed the importance of addressing these issues promptly. He noted that the unfair reversion of employees has caused significant distress and demotivation among the workforce. By ensuring fair promotions and addressing their pension concerns, the association aims to restore morale and ensure a motivated and efficient workforce within the power sector.
The association also plans to engage with government officials and relevant authorities to discuss these demands and seek a resolution. They are committed to advocating for the rights and welfare of the electricity employees and ensuring that justice is served.
The State Power Engineers Association remains steadfast in its mission to support and uplift its members, ensuring that their contributions to the power sector are recognized and rewarded appropriately.
