Hyderabad: Heavy Rain Causes Chaos, Young Man Washed Away with Scooter in Indiranagar
Hyderabad, 20 August 2024, Tuesday – Torrential rains have wreaked havoc in Hyderabad, leading to severe flooding in various parts of the city. In a tragic incident, a young man riding a scooter in the Indiranagar area was swept away by fast-flowing rainwater. The incident occurred as the man attempted to navigate the submerged roads despite the dangerous conditions. Shortly after, his scooter lost control and fell, causing him to be swept away along with the vehicle.
Two bystanders, witnessing the incident, rushed to rescue him. Unfortunately, one of the rescuers also got carried away by the strong current. The situation in Hyderabad has been dire, with continuous heavy rainfall over the past two to three days. Many main roads resemble ponds, and low-lying areas are completely submerged.
In light of the severe weather conditions, the government has declared a holiday for educational institutions under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) jurisdiction. The Meteorological Department has warned of continued heavy rainfall across the state, including Hyderabad, in the coming days. Residents are urged to exercise caution and avoid venturing out unnecessarily.
