Hyderabad, September 05, 2024: In response to the heavy rains during the first week of September, significant damage to standing crops in both agriculture and horticulture has been reported across several districts in Telangana. The Department of Agriculture, Government of Telangana, has issued detailed guidelines for the comprehensive enumeration of crop damage.
As per the instructions, all District Agricultural Officers (DAOs) have been directed to carry out field-level assessments where crop damage exceeds 33%. The enumeration will cover both agriculture and horticulture crops, ensuring a thorough evaluation of the damage.
The guidelines highlight that Agricultural Extension Officers (AEOs) must visit every affected field and document crop damage on a farmer-wise and crop-wise basis. The Mandal Agricultural Officers (MAOs) are tasked with verifying and assessing crop loss, including horticulture crops, in coordination with Horticulture Officers, ensuring only one consolidated list is created for each region.
To ensure accuracy, the District Agricultural Officers (DAOs) will supervise the process, with ADAs (Assistant Directors of Agriculture) visiting 25% of the fields and DAOs themselves visiting 5% of the most severely affected mandals.

The compiled enumeration lists, jointly signed by the MAO/MHO, ADA, DAO/DHO, and the District Collector, will be publicly displayed at Gram Panchayat offices. Finalized reports must be submitted by September 12, 2024, for eligible farmers to receive input subsidies.
This initiative aims to provide timely support to farmers affected by the rains, ensuring they receive the necessary assistance to recover from crop losses.
