Telangana Achieves Significant Decline in Unemployment: Central Government Report
CM Revanth Reddy Credits Proactive Governance for Positive Shift
Hyderabad November 30,2024
In a notable achievement, Telangana has recorded a significant decline in unemployment, according to a report released by the central government. The report reveals that the unemployment rate in the state dropped from 22.9% during the July-September quarter of 2023 to 18.1% in the same period in 2024.
This improvement is being attributed to the increased availability of job opportunities across both government and private sectors over the past six months. The Congress-led government under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has taken credit for this remarkable progress, emphasizing the proactive policies and initiatives implemented since coming to power on December 9, 2023.
Revanth Reddy’s administration has prioritized employment generation by focusing on industrial development, investments in infrastructure, and reforms aimed at enhancing ease of doing business. These efforts have created a conducive environment for both multinational companies and startups, thereby boosting job creation. Key programs such as skill development initiatives and special employment drives have also played a pivotal role in reducing unemployment.
Comparison with Previous Government
Before the Congress government took charge, the state was under the leadership of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). Critics have pointed out that during KCR’s tenure, the unemployment rate remained higher, reflecting challenges in job creation. However, KCR’s government had also introduced flagship welfare schemes and industrial projects, which laid the groundwork for future economic activity.
While the Congress government has built upon some of these foundations, CM Revanth Reddy’s focus on targeted employment measures and fostering private sector growth is being credited with achieving the faster decline in unemployment.
This development signals a brighter future for Telangana’s workforce and highlights the impact of governance shifts on employment trends.
