Lokasani Padma Reddy Wins Prestigious “Millionaire Farmer of India Award”

In a proud moment for Telangana, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has announced the “Millionaire Farmer of India Award” for Lokasani Padma Reddy, a progressive farmer from Nalgonda district. This award recognizes exemplary contributions to agriculture and horticulture, with Padma Reddy being honored for achieving exceptional yields and quality through innovative and scientific farming methods.

The award will be presented at a ceremony in New Delhi, as informed by a senior scientist from Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kampasagar, Nalgonda district.

Excellence in Horticulture

Lokasani Padma Reddy has revolutionized horticultural farming by implementing advanced and scientific cultivation practices, particularly in crops such as sweet potato, lemon, guava, poppy, and kumquat (kunkudu). Her kumquat variety has been registered with the Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Rights Authority in New Delhi, setting a benchmark for farmers across the nation.

Her innovative practices have attracted farmers from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Chhattisgarh, who visit her fields to learn the latest techniques in horticulture. Experts have commended her methods, and her nursery is the first in India to provide high-quality kumquat plants to farmers.

Champion of Natural and Organic Farming

Padma Reddy’s commitment to natural and organic farming has earned her widespread recognition. She has developed an organic liquid mixture, LPR Organic Liquid, using locally available materials such as cow urine, dung, and crop waste. This mixture, currently under patent processing, has proven to be a cost-effective solution for sustainable farming.

Her farm has become a model for school students, rural youth, and fellow farmers. Through workshops and training sessions conducted on her farm, she has inspired many young people to pursue horticulture as a profession.
