Chaos at Sandhya Theatre During Pushpa 2 Premiere: Woman Dead, Boy Injured
Hyderabad, December 05,2024: A tragic incident unfolded last night at Sandhya 70mm Theatre, Chikkadapally, RTC Crossroads, during the premiere of the highly anticipated movie Pushpa 2. The incident, which occurred around 9:40 PM, resulted in the death of a 35-year-old woman and injuries to her 13-year-old son, sparking outrage over the lack of crowd management at the venue.
A massive crowd had gathered at the theatre, eager to watch the premiere and catch a glimpse of the movie’s lead actor, Allu Arjun. Despite there being no official confirmation of the actor’s visit, the theatre management had reportedly been informed of his arrival but made no arrangements to handle the crowd or ensure separate entry and exit points.
When Allu Arjun arrived with his personal security team, the already large gathering surged toward the theatre. The actor’s security personnel attempted to control the crowd, but the situation spiraled out of control as people pushed into the theatre’s lower balcony area.
In the chaos, Revathi, a resident of Dilsukhnagar, and her son Sreethej were caught in the crush and suffered severe suffocation. Police officers on duty quickly pulled them out and performed CPR on the boy before rushing both to Durgabai Deshmukh Hospital. Tragically, Revathi was declared dead upon arrival, while Sreethej was referred to another hospital for advanced treatment.
The Chikkadapally Police have registered a case under Section 105, 118(1) read with 3(5) of the BNS Act based on a complaint from the victim’s family. An investigation is underway, and officials have assured stringent action against those responsible for the mismanagement that led to the tragic incident.
The shocking event has raised serious concerns about safety measures and crowd management protocols at high-profile public events, calling for stricter regulations to prevent such tragedies in the future.
