Air India Launches In-Flight Wi-Fi on Select Aircraft

Air India has become the first airline in the country to offer in-flight Wi-Fi services, setting a new benchmark in domestic aviation. The private carrier announced on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, that passengers on select flights will now be able to enjoy internet connectivity in the skies.
The service is currently available on the airline’s widebody Airbus A350 and Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, as well as on select Airbus A321neo planes. This initiative positions Air India as a pioneer in integrating advanced technology into its fleet, enhancing passenger experience on both domestic and international routes.
Speaking on the occasion, an Air India spokesperson said, “We are proud to introduce this cutting-edge service, which marks a significant milestone in our journey toward modernizing Air India. With in-flight Wi-Fi, our passengers can stay connected with their loved ones, conduct business, or enjoy entertainment seamlessly during their journey.”
Passengers can access the service by connecting their devices to the aircraft’s Wi-Fi network after the aircraft reaches cruising altitude. Detailed instructions for connecting to the network are provided in the in-flight entertainment system and through announcements by the cabin crew.
Air India’s move aligns with its strategy to cater to tech-savvy travelers and position itself as a premium global carrier. It also reflects the airline’s commitment to leveraging innovation to meet evolving passenger needs. Industry experts believe this initiative will set a new standard for in-flight services in India and could prompt other airlines to follow suit.
