Gudur Narayana Reddy Urges CM to Protect Farmers from Land Loss
Hyderabad, January 3: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) senior leader Gudur Narayana Reddy on Friday appealed to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to reconsider the alignment of the proposed Southeast section of the Regional Ring Road (RRR) to safeguard farmers from losing their lands for the sixth time.
In a statement to the media, Gudur Narayana Reddy highlighted the plight of farmers whose lands would be affected under the new alignment. He stressed the need for the government to revert to the original alignment to avoid additional land acquisitions in the region.

“When the RRR was initially planned, it was proposed to pass through Choutuppal, Motakondur, Alair, the other side of Yadadri, and Gajwel. However, pressure from BRS leaders led to a change in alignment, routing it through Choutuppal, Valigonda, Bhuvanagiri, and Gajwel,” he said.
The BJP leader pointed out that farmers in Bhongir mandal have already given up their lands five times for various developmental projects, including the construction of high-tension power lines, National Highway 163, two bypass roads at Bhuvanagiri, and activities under the Yadadri Temple Development Authority. He stated that these farmers are now being forced to surrender their lands for a sixth time.

Mr. Reddy argued that the areas under the new alignment are already well-connected for logistics and commuting, making the revised alignment redundant. He accused the previous Chief Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, of approving the new alignment to benefit party affiliates without proper consideration of its practicality or impact on rural connectivity.
The original alignment, he explained, was designed to provide connectivity to rural areas in the Southeast and foster economic development. It also ensured the RRR remained 35 to 40 kilometers away from the Outer Ring Road (ORR), benefiting the areas between the two rings. The new alignment, he claimed, defeats this purpose.
He urged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to take a compassionate approach to the struggles of farmers and reinstate the old alignment to protect their livelihoods.
