
834th Senior National Sepaktakraw Championship 2024-25 Kicks Off in Hanumakonda
Hyderabad, January 09, 2025 – The 34th Senior National Sepaktakraw Championship 2024-25 for Men and Women is set to begin today with a grand inaugural ceremony on January 10, at 4:00 PM at the Jawaharlal Nehru Outdoor Stadium, Hanumakonda, Warangal. This high-profile tournament is being organized by the Sepaktakraw Federation of India in association with the Telangana Sepaktakraw Association and will run from January 10 to 14, 2025.
Addressing the media, Mr. K. Suresh Kumar, President of the Telangana Sepaktakraw Association, shared the championship’s highlights and expressed pride in hosting this national-level event in Telangana. He revealed that teams from 28 Indian states and two departmental teams—Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and the All India Police Department—are set to compete, showcasing the immense popularity and growing significance of Sepaktakraw in the country.

“This tournament will be a milestone in promoting Sepaktakraw in Telangana and across India. We are conducting matches in four exciting categories: Team Event, Regu Event, Double Event, and Quad Event. The championship aims to provide a platform for athletes to demonstrate their talent and foster a competitive spirit in this unique sport, often referred to as ‘Leg Volleyball,’” said Mr. Suresh Kumar.
He also commended the efforts of the Telangana Sepaktakraw Association and the Federation of India in organizing the championship and thanked the state government for its support. “Telangana is proud to host this prestigious event, and we hope it will inspire more youth to take up this thrilling sport,” he added.
The matches will be held across the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor and Outdoor Stadiums in Hanumakonda, providing state-of-the-art facilities for players and spectators.
