Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Friday, urging him to address several unresolved issues stemming from the state’s bifurcation nine years ago. Reddy submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister outlining the pending issues, including the release of Rs 36,625 crore in Resource Gap Funding for the fiscal year 2014-15, the reimbursement of Rs 2600.74 crore for the Polavaram Project, and the clearance of outstanding dues of Rs 7,058 crore from Telangana Discoms to the Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation.

Reddy also requested that the Technical Advisory Committee’s estimates of Rs 55,548 crore for the Polavaram Project be accepted, and Rs 10,000 crore be released immediately for its construction. He further urged Modi to compensate Andhra Pradesh for the financial burden of Rs 5,527 crore incurred while supplying ration to 56 lakh families under the PMGKAY, due to the irrational selection of beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act. Additionally, Reddy appealed to the Prime Minister to grant clearance for 12 medical colleges, allot required mines to APMDC for the YSR Kadapa district steel plant, and fulfill the promise of granting Special Status to Andhra Pradesh as made in Parliament by the Centre.
