Pingili Sripal Reddy Wins Nalgonda-Khammam-Warangal Teachers’ MLC Seat After Intense 18-Round Battle
Hyderabad: The Nalgonda-Khammam-Warangal Teachers’ MLC constituency witnessed a dramatic and hard-fought election, culminating in the victory of Pingili Sripal Reddy, the Progressive Recognized Teachers’ Union (PRTU)-backed candidate.
Unlike in some other constituencies, where clear majorities were secured in the first round of counting, the Nalgonda-Khammam-Warangal election remained tightly contested, forcing the process into multiple rounds of elimination. Sripal Reddy ultimately triumphed after an intense 18 rounds of vote counting, securing 13,969 votes, well beyond the required quota of 11,821 votes.
The closely watched contest saw Sripal Reddy defeating sitting MLC Alugubelli Narsi Reddy, who represented the United Teachers Federation (UTF). The loss for the incumbent marks a significant shift in teachers’ electoral preferences, signaling growing support for PRTU-backed leadership in Telangana’s education sector.

The extended elimination process reflected the highly competitive nature of the election, with multiple candidates vying for teachers’ support across the three districts. Sripal Reddy’s victory is expected to strengthen PRTU’s influence in policy discussions concerning teachers’ rights, educational reforms, and service benefits.
With this win, Pingili Sripal Reddy has reaffirmed his standing as a key representative of the teaching community, promising to advocate for their welfare and work towards improving the educational landscape in Telangana.
