BJP-Backed Malka Komuraiah and PRTU’s Pingili Sripal Reddy Secure Key Wins in Telangana Teachers’ MLC Elections
Hyderabad, March 03: The Telangana Teachers’ Legislative Council elections witnessed two significant victories, with Malka Komuraiah and Pingili Sripal Reddy emerging as the winners in their respective constituencies.

Karimnagar-Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad Constituency
In a decisive win, Malka Komuraiah, backed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), clinched victory in the Karimnagar-Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad Teachers’ MLC constituency. Komuraiah secured 12,959 first-preference votes, surpassing the required quota of 12,073 votes to claim the seat outright. His closest rival, Vanga Mahender Reddy, the candidate supported by the Progressive Recognized Teachers’ Union (PRTU), fell short with 7,182 votes.

The victory is being seen as a boost for the BJP, which has been making efforts to expand its influence among the teaching community and strengthen its presence in Telangana’s legislative bodies.

Nalgonda-Khammam-Warangal Constituency
In the Nalgonda-Khammam-Warangal Teachers’ MLC constituency, Pingili Sripal Reddy, the PRTU-backed candidate, secured a hard-fought victory. Unlike in Karimnagar-Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad, no candidate achieved an outright majority in the first round, leading to a lengthy elimination process.
After 18 rounds of elimination, Sripal Reddy emerged victorious with 13,969 votes, surpassing the required winning quota of 11,821 votes. He defeated the sitting MLC, Alugubelli Narsi Reddy, who was representing the United Teachers Federation (UTF).

Implications of the Results
The results highlight the ongoing political battle between BJP-supported candidates, PRTU, and UTF in the education sector. While the BJP-backed Malka Komuraiah secured a clear win, PRTU proved its strong influence by ensuring a victory for Sripal Reddy in Nalgonda-Khammam-Warangal. The defeat of sitting MLC Alugubelli Narsi Reddy marks a shift in the teachers’ voting pattern in the region.
With these victories, the elected representatives are expected to address the pressing concerns of the teaching community, including service conditions, salary structures, and policy matters related to education in Telangana.
