Mumbai, March 23: Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty and her family have been given a clean chit by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case. The closure report, filed nearly four years after the actor’s tragic demise, states that no evidence was found to suggest that anyone drove Sushant to suicide.
Rhea’s Lawyer Condemns Media Trial
Reacting to the CBI closure report, Rhea Chakraborty’s legal representative, Satish Maneshinde, expressed relief and gratitude for the thorough investigation.
“The false narrative fabricated and spread on social media was totally uncalled for. During the pandemic, when people were glued to television and social media, innocent individuals were hounded by the media and investigative authorities,” Maneshinde stated.
He also criticized the media for the treatment meted out to Rhea, who was jailed for 27 days before being granted bail by Justice Sarang V. Kotwal.
Standing by Rhea’s Family
Maneshinde highlighted the mental and emotional toll on Rhea and her family.
“I salute Rhea and her family for enduring the inhuman treatment in silence. They were subjected to immense suffering, yet they stayed strong. Threats were made against my team and me, but nothing deterred us from fulfilling our legal duties,” he said.
He also clarified that he defended Rhea’s family pro bono and dismissed speculation about hefty legal fees.
Faith in Judiciary Restored
Maneshinde thanked sections of the media that supported Rhea’s fight for justice.
“This country is still safe, and every citizen seeking justice can have faith in our vibrant judiciary,” he concluded.
