Thailand Releases Ramayan Stamp as PM Modi Visits Bangkok
Thailand on Thursday issued a special postage stamp featuring 18th-century Ramayan mural paintings to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official visit to the country.
“I am grateful to the Government of Thailand for issuing a special postage stamp based on the Ramayan mural paintings to commemorate my visit,” PM Modi expressed.
India-Thailand Cultural and Civilizational Bonds
During the visit, Thai PM Paetongtarn Shinawatra presented PM Modi with the World Tipitaka in Pali, further underlining the deep-rooted cultural and spiritual ties between the two nations. PM Modi also witnessed a mesmerizing performance of the Thai Ramayana, ‘Ramakien,’ soon after his arrival in Bangkok.
“The Ramayana continues to connect hearts and traditions across so many parts of Asia,” the Prime Minister noted.
India and Thailand share a strong historical connection through Buddhism, Hinduism, art, literature, language, and architecture. Thai culture deeply incorporates Pali and Sanskrit influences, reflecting these age-old ties.
