Srishailam, April 4: Excavation work in the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel entered its 42nd day, with significant progress reported in the removal of debris and expansion of the conveyor belt system. The project, which involves clearing the tunnel for smoother water flow, has reached a crucial stage, with intensified efforts to accelerate soil and mud extraction.

According to project officials, the expansion of the conveyor belt system has been successfully completed, ensuring a faster and more efficient removal process for the extracted soil and tunnel boring machine (TBM) debris. This development is expected to significantly speed up the excavation process, minimizing delays in the ambitious irrigation project.

Workers are now focusing on the rapid removal of soil, mud, and rock fragments, a critical step in clearing the tunnel for further structural reinforcements. The debris generated from the TBM excavation is being systematically transported out of the site to prevent any disruptions in the ongoing work.
Authorities overseeing the project have reaffirmed their commitment to completing the excavation within the scheduled timeline. Engineers and labor crews are working around the clock to ensure the smooth progress of the operation, emphasizing safety measures and efficiency in soil removal.

The SLBC tunnel project is a key irrigation initiative aimed at providing water to drought-prone regions in Telangana. The successful completion of the excavation phase is expected to pave the way for subsequent stages of the project, ensuring water supply to thousands of farmers in the region.
Further updates on the progress of excavation and the next phases of tunnel reinforcement are expected in the coming days.
