Bengaluru, April 9, 2025 — Table-toppers Delhi Capitals will look to maintain their perfect start to the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season as they take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in a highly anticipated encounter at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday.

While Delhi Capitals come into the match unbeaten, having secured three convincing wins in a row, the Royal Challengers will be hoping to build momentum after breaking their decade-long Wankhede Stadium jinx with a gritty 12-run win over Mumbai Indians in their last outing.

RCB have won three of their four games so far, but their lone defeat came at home—a demoralizing eight-wicket loss to Gujarat Titans. They will be eager to set the record straight at Chinnaswamy in front of their home crowd.

Virat Kohli continues to lead by example, having smashed 67 runs in the win over MI. His innings not only set the tone for a massive total but also saw him become the first Indian to reach 13,000 runs in T20 cricket. Rajat Patidar added to the firepower with a captain’s knock of 64, while Jitesh Sharma’s unbeaten 40 ensured a strong finish.

In the bowling department, Josh Hazlewood has picked up eight wickets so far, while Indian all-rounder Krunal Pandya has impressed with seven scalps.

Delhi Capitals, meanwhile, are yet to show any weakness. After narrowly edging past Lucknow Super Giants in their opener, they produced dominant wins over Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings. In the latest clash at Chepauk, KL Rahul starred with a fluent 71-run knock in the absence of Faf du Plessis, who missed the game due to illness.

Mitchell Starc has been sensational with the ball, bagging nine wickets in just three games, including a maiden T20 five-wicket haul against SRH.

Historically, RCB have the upper hand in this fixture, having won 19 of the 31 encounters between the two sides. Delhi have managed 11 wins, with one match ending in no result.
