
Education Key to Eradicating Poverty: Valmiki Foundation Chairman Surya Ganesh Valmiki
Hyderabad, June 21, 2025: Education is a powerful tool to eliminate poverty, stated Surya Ganesh Valmiki, Chairman of the Valmiki Foundation, during the organization’s 17th anniversary celebration. The event, themed ‘Ekatvam – Many Hands, One Mission,’ was held grandly at DMR Gardens in the city outskirts on Saturday.

As part of the ‘Miles of Smiles’ initiative, the foundation distributed over 100 bicycles, school books, and sports equipment to rural children. Additionally, under the ‘End Period Poverty’ program, 3,000 biodegradable sanitary pads were provided to high school girls with support from Pratyusha Support and Padma Shri Dr. Manjula Anagani.

Speaking on the occasion, Surya Ganesh Valmiki highlighted that the foundation supports over 1,200 children in rural and tribal areas through education and welfare programs via Valmiki Gurukulam. He emphasized the foundation’s continuous efforts to uplift underprivileged, orphaned, and marginalized children.
Dr. Hari Kishan Valmiki, General Secretary and Project Director, elaborated on the foundation’s initiatives, including ‘Wings of Hope,’ which has enabled over 500 children to experience air travel, ‘Egg Bank’ for nutritional support, and ‘Unity X’ for youth exchange programs. He also announced a new project in collaboration with Valmiki Foundation, Pragati Resorts, IIHM Hyderabad, and Skal International, offering three-month skill training and job opportunities to empower rural youth. “Our goal is to provide hope and opportunities,” Dr. Hari Kishan stated.


The event was attended by notable figures, including Skal International Deputy Vice President N.S.N. Mohan, Pragati Group Chairman Dr. G.B.K. Rao, security studies expert Dr. Ramesh Kanneganti, Mounika Reddy, and Kennedy Holiday Travel CEO, among others. Speakers praised the foundation’s efforts in supporting the underprivileged. Cultural performances and dances by students were a highlight of the event.
