Hyderabad,March24 : Telangana Government has announced that there will be no increase in electricity charges for the financial year 2023-24. The existing tariff will continue to be applicable, with the average cost per unit fixed at Rs. 5, irrespective of the load. The Telangana Electricity Regulatory Council (TSERC) has confirmed the revenue deficit of Discoms at Rs. 9,124.82 crores and announced that the state government will provide a subsidy of the same amount to them. Of this, Rs. 1,381.02 crores will be given for household consumption, and Rs. 9,124.82 crores for agriculture. TSERC has also approved the true-up charges of Rs. 12,718.40 crores to be paid to the power distribution companies by the state government in phases over five years, without burdening electricity consumers. This announcement comes as the government prepares for an election year.
