
Singareni Women Employees Urged to Prove Their Mettle in Rescue Operations
RG-2 Mines Rescue Station to Become a Centre of Excellence in Rescue Training
Hyderabad, July 5, 2025 – In a historic move, Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has inducted its first-ever women’s rescue team, marking a significant milestone in its 136-year history. Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) N. Balram felicitated the newly trained women officers and presented them with certificates at a special ceremony held at Singareni Bhavan on Saturday.

Addressing the gathering, CMD Balram called upon the women rescue officers to showcase their skills, dedication, and courage in rescue operations. He emphasized the importance of their role and encouraged them to aim for excellence, not just in day-to-day operations but also by representing Singareni in national and international rescue competitions.
Balram expressed pride in the formation of the first women’s rescue team and noted that they had undergone rigorous, specialized training. He also highlighted the exemplary work of Singareni’s rescue teams in recent high-profile emergencies, including the Srisailam tunnel incident, a major fire accident in Hyderabad, and a rescue operation in Tamil Nadu. He mentioned that these operations had earned widespread recognition and appreciation.

Highlighting future plans, he announced that the Mines Rescue Station at the Ramagundam-2 Area (RG-2) will be developed into a world-class rescue training centre. He also shared that the latest rescue equipment and tools have been procured to enhance the capabilities of the SCCL rescue teams, which are also training both state and central disaster response personnel.
Speaking on the occasion, General Manager (Rescue) Srinivas Reddy informed that 13 women officers were selected for the rescue team under the direction of CMD Balram and underwent 14 days of intensive training. He praised the women for performing on par with their male counterparts and said that efforts are now underway to prepare them for upcoming rescue competitions.

The felicitation program was attended by Director (Projects and Planning) K. Venkateswarlu, Director (PA&W) Goutham Potru, Executive Director (Coal Movement) S.D.M. Subhani, and HOD (Marketing) T. Srinivas. Trainers Tirupati, Kishan Rao, Sandeep, and Sajid Ali, who provided the rescue training, were also honoured with appreciation certificates.
