CISCE Launches ‘Active CISCE’ Programme to Boost Fitness and Sports Culture in Schools
Hyderabad, July 11, 2025 — In a significant step towards holistic student development, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has officially launched “Active CISCE”, a nationwide initiative designed to promote physical activity, sports, and wellness across all CISCE-affiliated schools, including those in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The initiative aligns with the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and aims to transform school campuses into dynamic centers of health and fitness. Targeting students from Classes I to XI, the programme makes physical fitness a structured and assessed part of the school curriculum.

Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. S. Teresa, CISCE Regional Sports Coordinator for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, said, “Active CISCE is a much-needed step toward fostering a culture of fitness, discipline, and emotional well-being among school children. In today’s fast-paced, screen-dominated world, the emphasis on physical literacy is critical. This initiative not only encourages students to stay active but also integrates fitness tracking, lifestyle awareness, and sports talent identification into the academic framework.”

Key Highlights of ‘Active CISCE’:
- Mandatory fitness registration for all students from Classes I to XII through a dedicated fitness portal, set to launch on July 15, 2025.
- Fitness report cards for every student, covering fitness scores, lifestyle metrics, skill development, and progress tracking.
- Continuous observation and reporting by Physical Education Teachers (PETs).
- Standardized training programmes (online and offline) for PE and sports teachers to ensure uniform implementation.
9Importantly, participation in Active CISCE will also become a prerequisite for ICSE and ISC exam registrations in the coming academic years, as CISCE strengthens its digital infrastructure for data integration and student monitoring.

Mrs. Teresa added, “We are confident that Active CISCE will unlock the physical potential of every child, support sports talent, and promote an active and joyful school environment.”
The launch has been welcomed by educators and sports coordinators across the region, marking a new chapter in school-based fitness and wellness initiatives.
