Al-Falah University Suspended by AIU Amid Red Fort Blast Terror Probe Links
NAAC issues show-cause notice for false accreditation claims; authorities tighten scrutiny

New Delhi, November 13:
The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) has *suspended the membership of Al-Falah University, Faridabad, with immediate effect following revelations of its alleged links to suspects in the *Red Fort car blast that rocked Delhi on November 10.

The action, confirmed through an official communication dated November 13, 2025, comes amid mounting pressure on the university and growing national concern over its possible involvement in terror-linked activities. The suspension order stated that Al-Falah University “does not appear to be in good standing”, citing recent media reports and investigations that have placed the institution under intense scrutiny.

As per AIU’s directive, Al-Falah University is barred from using the AIU name or logo in any form of representation or publicity. The university has been instructed to immediately remove the AIU logo from its official website and promotional materials.

“It is informed that Al-Falah University, Faridabad, Haryana, is not authorised to use the name or logo of AIU in any of its activities, and the AIU logo must be removed from the university’s official website forthwith,” the official letter stated.

Terror Probe Background

The drastic step follows the ongoing terror probe into the deadly Red Fort car blast that killed 12 people and injured dozens in the heart of the national capital on November 10.
According to investigating agencies, *Dr. Umar Un Nabi, the prime suspect, was associated with Al-Falah University, along with *Dr. Muzammil Ganaie and Dr. Shaheen Sayeed, both of whom are currently under investigation.

Sources said the blast, which involved a vehicle loaded with high-grade explosives, has exposed a potential network operating out of the National Capital Region. Several raids have been conducted in Faridabad and adjoining areas in connection with the case, with security agencies uncovering significant quantities of explosive materials and digital evidence linking the suspects to the institution.

NAAC Action and Accreditation Row

In a separate but related development, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has issued a show-cause notice to the Al-Falah School of Engineering and Technology, Fatehpur, a constituent college of the university, for falsely claiming NAAC accreditation.
The NAAC stated that the university and its affiliated institutions had been misleading students and the public by publicising accreditation status that had never been formally granted. The Council has sought an immediate explanation and threatened to initiate legal action if corrective steps are not taken.

Institution Under the Scanner

Al-Falah University, a private institution established in Faridabad, Haryana — about 27 kilometres from the Delhi border — has been thrust into the national spotlight after the Red Fort explosion exposed alleged links between some of its faculty members and terror operatives.
Situated on Raga Road in Dhauj, the university had earlier presented itself as a growing centre for higher education and research, but recent developments have cast a shadow over its operations.

Security agencies continue to probe the extent of institutional involvement, while education regulators and the Ministry of Home Affairs are said to be reviewing the university’s recognition and compliance status.

Officials said the AIU’s decision sends a strong message that institutions found flouting ethics or linked with unlawful activities would face immediate disciplinary and legal consequences.

The suspension marks one of the rare occasions when a higher education institution in India has been officially penalised amid an ongoing terror investigation, highlighting the seriousness of the case and the tightening regulatory vigilance in the education sector.
