Hyderabad, Nov 18:
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday urged the Union Government to extend full support for the timely execution of several large-scale infrastructure projects aimed at transforming the state’s economic and urban landscape.
Speaking at a regional meeting chaired by Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister *Manohar Lal Khattar, the Chief Minister sought the Centre’s approval and assistance for key initiatives including the **Musi River Rejuvenation, **Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II, **Godavari water diversion to Hyderabad, and the *Regional Ring Road (RRR).
Revanth Reddy outlined the state’s ambitious plan to position Hyderabad as a leading global city, emphasizing the need for rapid infrastructure development to stay competitive at an international level.
“We are not competing with other Indian states. Our competition is with Singapore, Tokyo, and New York. For that, the cooperation of the Central government is essential,” he said.
The Chief Minister highlighted that several development projects were still pending approval at the central level and urged for immediate clearances along with financial and administrative support.
Focus on Green Mobility and Sustainability
Revanth Reddy briefed the Union Minister on Telangana’s push towards *zero-carbon mobility, noting that the government is set to deploy *3,000 electric buses in Hyderabad by next year as part of its climate-conscious urban transport strategy.
He also discussed the *Future City project, efforts to bring *global investments into the upcoming new city, and the establishment of a dry port to strengthen Telangana’s economic ecosystem.
Telangana’s Long-Term Economic Targets
The Chief Minister announced that the state will release the ‘Telangana Rising Vision Document 2047’ on December 9, outlining a multi-decade roadmap for development.
He reiterated Telangana’s economic goals:
- Achieving a $1 trillion economy by 2034
- Expanding to a $3 trillion economy by 2047
- Contributing 10% to India’s GDP by 2047
Revanth Reddy also referenced Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making India a $30 trillion economy by 2047, stating that Telangana is committed to playing a central role in that growth story.
Pending Approvals Critical for Growth
The Chief Minister stressed that central approvals for ongoing and proposed infrastructure projects are crucial to sustaining the state’s growth trajectory and turning Hyderabad into one of the world’s most vibrant urban hubs.
