AIMIM General Secretary, Former MLA Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri Passes Away at 72
Hyderabad, February 3, 2026: Senior leader of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and its General Secretary, Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri, passed away on Tuesday at Owaisi Hospital following a prolonged illness. He was 72.
According to party sources, Quadri had been admitted to Owaisi Hospital on November 30, 2025, after complaining of uneasiness and a steady deterioration in health. He had been battling renal complications for nearly two years and was undergoing continuous treatment.
A veteran politician and a key organisational pillar of the AIMIM, Quadri was regarded as one of the most trusted confidants of the late Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi, the former AIMIM president. With decades of association with the party, he played a significant role in strengthening its grassroots network, particularly in Hyderabad’s Old City.
Quadri served as a legislator for multiple terms. He represented the Charminar Assembly constituency from 2004 to 2018, spanning the period of undivided Andhra Pradesh and later Telangana. In 2018, he was elected from the Yakutpura Assembly constituency, serving until 2023. He did not contest the 2023 Telangana Assembly elections.
Before entering the Assembly, Quadri also served as a corporator in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) from 1986 to 1991, marking the beginning of a long public career devoted to civic and community issues.
The news of his demise triggered an outpouring of grief across the Old City of Hyderabad. AIMIM leaders, MLAs, party workers, and supporters took to social media to pay tributes, describing him as a disciplined leader, an able organiser, and a compassionate public representative. Many termed his passing an irreparable loss to the party and the Muslim community.
Condolence messages quoting “Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’un” flooded social platforms, reflecting the deep respect he commanded across party lines. AIMIM President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi and other senior leaders are expected to issue official statements shortly.
Details regarding funeral arrangements, including the time and venue of the last rites, are awaited from the party. The AIMIM leadership and Quadri’s family have appealed to the public to offer prayers for the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family during this difficult time.
