Singareni Invited to Partner in Lithium Mining Projects in Brazil

Hyderabad, February 25, 2025:
In a significant development reflecting the growing global focus on critical minerals, a high-level delegation from Brazil’s leading lithium company, Companhia Brasileira de Litio (CBL), met Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Budhaprakash Jyoti at Singareni Bhavan and invited the public sector mining giant to partner in lithium mining operations in Brazil.

The Brazilian delegation, led by CBL Board Director Daniel Leme and CEO Vinicius Alvarenga, presented a detailed overview of their company, ongoing lithium extraction projects, and expansion plans. They emphasized that lithium has emerged as one of the world’s most strategic minerals due to its critical role in manufacturing batteries for electric vehicles, renewable energy storage systems, and advanced electronics. In this context, they noted that collaboration with Singareni—given its technical expertise, mining experience, and growing interest in critical minerals—could prove mutually beneficial and commercially promising.

The delegation also revealed that CBL is currently holding discussions with several prominent Indian companies to explore potential partnerships in lithium exploration, mining, and processing, highlighting India’s increasing importance in the global mineral supply chain.

Representing Singareni, Director (Projects & Planning) K. Venkateswarlu and Director (Personnel & Finance) Gowtham Potru briefed the visiting team on SCCL’s operational capabilities, technological strengths, and diversification initiatives. They outlined the company’s ongoing efforts to expand beyond coal into strategic and future-ready mineral sectors.

Singareni officials stated that the company would carefully evaluate the proposal, including technical feasibility, investment requirements, long-term profitability, and strategic value, before taking a final decision on entering into a partnership.

Industry observers note that if the collaboration materializes, it could mark a major step for Singareni in diversifying into global critical mineral ventures and strengthening India’s resource security in the rapidly expanding clean-energy economy.
