Tehran/Tel Aviv, April 6, 2026:
The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) on Monday claimed that it had killed Majid Khatem-Hosseini Khadami, the head of intelligence of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), in a targeted airstrike carried out in Tehran on Sunday night.
In an official statement, the IDF described Khadami as “one of the most important commanders of the Revolutionary Guards,” highlighting his extensive military and intelligence experience. The Israeli military said the operation was conducted by the Israeli Air Force based on precise intelligence inputs from its Intelligence Directorate.
According to the statement, Khadami played a crucial role in shaping Iran’s intelligence framework and was responsible for gathering strategic information for the country’s senior leadership. He was reportedly appointed to the position following the assassination of his predecessor in a previous Israeli operation.
The IDF further alleged that Khadami was actively involved in advancing plans for attacks against Israel and Jewish targets worldwide. It also accused him of overseeing surveillance of Iranian civilians as part of efforts to suppress internal dissent within Iran.
“His elimination constitutes a significant blow to the command and control systems of the Revolutionary Guards and their ability to conduct terrorist activities,” the statement added.
In a related development, the IDF also claimed responsibility for the killing of Mohammad Reza Ashrafi Kahi, who headed commercial operations at the IRGC’s Oil Headquarters in Tehran. According to Israel, Ashrafi managed financial networks worth billions of dollars annually and played a key role in funding and strengthening Iran-backed groups such as Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis.
The reported strikes signal a sharp escalation in hostilities between Israel and Iran, raising concerns over further instability in the region. Iranian authorities have not yet officially responded to the claims.
