Chennai, April 16: Actor-turned-politician Vijay on Thursday unveiled the manifesto of his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, presenting an ambitious blueprint centered on welfare expansion, employment generation, and technology-driven governance.

Positioning TVK as a pro-people alternative, Vijay outlined a comprehensive mix of direct financial assistance schemes and long-term development policies aimed at reshaping the state’s socio-economic landscape.

A major highlight of the manifesto is its strong welfare focus. The party has promised a monthly assistance of ₹2,500 for homemakers, ₹4,000 as unemployment aid for graduates, and ₹2,500 for diploma holders. Additionally, internship stipends ranging between ₹5,000 and ₹8,000 have been proposed, alongside an employment-linked support scheme of ₹18,000 targeting five lakh youth.

In a bid to strengthen social security, the manifesto assures ₹3,000 monthly assistance for senior citizens, widows, and persons with disabilities, extending pension benefits to around 15 lakh beneficiaries.

Women-centric initiatives form a key pillar of the manifesto, including interest-free loans up to ₹5 lakh, marriage assistance for economically weaker sections in the form of one sovereign of gold and a silk saree, and free house pattas on government land.

In the healthcare sector, TVK has pledged free health check-ups, affordable medicines, and dedicated insurance coverage for cancer treatment.

Basic services are another focus area, with promises of 200 units of free electricity per household, universal piped drinking water access, and six free LPG cylinders annually.

The party has also laid emphasis on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) in governance and education. Plans include AI-based systems to assist students preparing for competitive exams and the establishment of free residential schools from Classes 6 to 12.

For farmers, TVK has promised 50 per cent debt relief for those owning more than five acres, along with initiatives promoting solar energy adoption. Fishermen have been assured a minimum support price mechanism, ₹27,000 lean-season assistance, and insurance coverage of ₹25 lakh.

Worker welfare measures include a monthly salary of ₹18,000 for anganwadi staff and ₹10,000 for sanitation workers, along with a ₹15 lakh benefit for long-serving government employees.

Highlighting law and order, Vijay announced a “drug-free Tamil Nadu” initiative as part of the party’s governance agenda.

On the economic front, TVK has set an ambitious लक्ष्य of transforming Tamil Nadu into a $1.5 trillion economy by 2036, supported by a ₹15,000 crore safety net for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

With a blend of welfare-driven policies and technology-led growth strategies, TVK aims to position itself as a formidable contender in the Assembly elections scheduled for April 23.
