
Chanchalguda Jail Staff Children Shine at National Karate Championship
Hyderabad: Children of Chanchalguda Jail staff showcased their talent at the TAIKA Open Karate Championship–2026, a national-level competition held at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad on September 5 and 6.
Six children participated in the championship and won medals in various categories. Bandari Dhatri secured a Silver Medal in the Kumite category, putting up an impressive performance against strong competition at the national level. Her achievement brought pride to her parents as well as the Chanchalguda Jail staff.
In the Kata category, Bakka Sujay Deep, Bakka Sahasra, Che. Hamsalekha, Che. Vinod Kumar, and Maroju Kovid won Bronze Medals.

Congratulating the young achievers, Director General of Prisons, Ms. Sowmya Mishra, IPS, appreciated their performance and encouraged them to pursue sports to develop discipline, self-confidence and perseverance.
The event was attended by Dr. G.S. Gopal Reddy, Founder and Director of GVR Karate Academy, along with Chanchalguda Karate Coach Karim and Amrutha Reddy.
The achievements of the young karate practitioners were widely appreciated, with the medal winners being encouraged to continue their efforts and aim for greater success at the national and international levels.
