New Delhi: Apple has reportedly opened pre-orders for its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, in India from 5:30 PM IST on Friday, with retail sales scheduled to begin on October 23. The device marks the company’s entry into the foldable smartphone segment and has attracted attention for its premium pricing and advanced display technology.
The iPhone Duo starts at ₹2,99,900 for the 256GB variant, making it one of the most expensive iPhones announced. Higher-storage versions are priced at up to ₹4,49,900 for the 2TB model.
Customers can reportedly pre-order the device through Apple’s online store, authorised retail partners and leading offline retail outlets.
Apple iPhone Duo Price in India
Apple’s reported pricing for the foldable smartphone is as follows:
| Variant | Price in India |
|---|---|
| 256GB | ₹2,99,900 |
| 512GB | ₹3,24,900 |
| 1TB | ₹3,74,900 |
| 2TB | ₹4,49,900 |
Despite the steep pricing, industry reports cited in the announcement suggest strong consumer interest, with global shipments potentially approaching six million units in 2026.
Foldable Design With Two Premium Displays
The iPhone Duo reportedly features a book-style folding design, with a 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR inner display and a 5.4-inch Super Retina XDR outer display.
According to the supplied specifications, the inner screen offers 50 per cent more viewing area than the iPhone 18 Pro Max. Both displays support ProMotion technology, Always-On functionality and peak outdoor brightness of up to 3,000 nits.
The inner display also features a nano-texture finish designed to reduce glare, making the device suitable for viewing content and multitasking in different lighting conditions.
Apple is positioning the handset as both its thinnest iPhone and a device with the largest display in the iPhone lineup.
A20 Pro Chip and iOS 27 Features
The iPhone Duo is said to be powered by Apple’s A20 Pro chipset, supported by a custom vapour chamber cooling system designed to manage heat during demanding tasks.
The smartphone reportedly runs iOS 27, with software optimised for its foldable form factor. The interface adapts to different usage modes as the device is opened, closed or positioned at various angles.
Features such as Split View allow users to run two applications side by side, while saved app pairs are designed to make multitasking faster and more convenient.
The device also reportedly brings back Touch ID, integrated into the side-mounted power button.
Titanium Build and IP68 Protection
For durability, the iPhone Duo is reported to feature a Grade 5 titanium frame, Ceramic Shield protection on the rear and Ceramic Shield 2 on the front.
It also carries an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, according to the supplied specifications.
These features are intended to combine the portability of a smartphone with the larger viewing area of a tablet-style device.
Dual 48MP Cameras
Photography is another key feature of the iPhone Duo. The device reportedly includes a 48-megapixel Fusion Main camera with integrated 2x telephoto capability and a 48-megapixel Fusion Ultra Wide camera supporting macro photography.
The dual-camera system is designed to provide flexibility for everyday photography, wide-angle shots and close-up images.
Sales to Begin on October 23
With pre-orders reportedly open and retail sales scheduled for October 23, the iPhone Duo could become a major launch in the premium smartphone market.
Its combination of foldable displays, high-end hardware and extensive storage options places it firmly in the ultra-premium category. However, its high starting price may limit its appeal to consumers willing to pay a substantial premium for Apple’s first foldable iPhone.
