Meta Description: India’s festive online sales crossed ₹24,000 crore in the first two days, with smartphones, electronics and fashion driving strong demand, according to Redseer.
India’s leading e-commerce platforms have recorded a strong start to the festive shopping season, generating an estimated ₹24,200 crore in sales during the first two days, as consumers stepped up purchases across smartphones, electronics, home appliances and fashion.
According to a report by Redseer Strategy Consultants, major online marketplaces, including Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho and Ajio, collectively recorded a gross merchandise value (GMV) of more than $2.5 billion during the opening two days of festive sales.
The report estimated that shoppers placed around 8–9 crore orders, with approximately 6–6.5 crore consumers participating in the shopping event. The sales value was nearly six times the average daily business-as-usual run rate, highlighting strong consumer demand during the festive season.
Smartphones Dominate Festive Sales
Smartphones emerged as the biggest contributor to festive online sales, accounting for 38–40 per cent of the total GMV. Sales in the category were estimated at ₹9,100–9,600 crore during the first two days.
Consumer electronics ranked second, contributing approximately 25–27 per cent of total sales, equivalent to ₹6,000–6,500 crore.
Fashion products also recorded substantial demand, accounting for 15–18 per cent of overall sales and generating an estimated ₹3,630–4,350 crore, according to the report.
Strong Demand for TVs, Refrigerators and Air Conditioners
Large appliances and electronic products witnessed robust demand during the opening days of festive sales. Televisions, refrigerators and air conditioners together accounted for more than two-thirds of large-appliance sales.
In the television segment, 55-inch models from brands such as TCL, LG, Samsung and Xiaomi featured prominently among the best-selling products, representing more than three-fourths of the top-selling stock-keeping units identified in the report.
The trend indicates growing consumer interest in larger-screen televisions and upgraded home entertainment systems during festive discount campaigns.
Electronics Orders Surge 14 Times
Redseer noted that the electronics category had already registered growth of more than 20 per cent in the first half of 2026, as consumers accelerated purchases amid expectations of higher prices later in the year.
During the first two days of festive sales, electronics orders surged to nearly 14 times their normal daily levels. Demand for laptops and internet-connected devices contributed to the increase.
The strong performance reflects consumers’ willingness to invest in technology products during major online shopping events, particularly when discounts and promotional offers are available.
Fashion Sales Rise 22–25 Per Cent
Fashion emerged as another significant growth driver, with gross merchandise value in the category increasing by an estimated 22–25 per cent year-on-year.
Sales were three to five times higher than average daily levels, supported by demand for affordable festive clothing. Consumers in Tier 2 cities and smaller towns played an important role in driving purchases.
The trend highlights the growing importance of smaller cities in India’s e-commerce market, particularly during major festive shopping campaigns.
Festive Shopping Boosts E-commerce Market
The estimated ₹24,200 crore in sales during the first two days underlines the importance of the festive season for India’s online retail industry. Smartphones, consumer electronics and fashion together accounted for the bulk of spending, while demand for large appliances and digital devices remained strong.
With millions of consumers participating in online shopping events, the opening performance points to continued opportunities for e-commerce platforms and brands during the festive period.
