Tirumala, April 04, 2023 – On the second day of Tirumala Srivari Salakatla Vasantotsavam, Sri Malayappaswamy, along with Sridevi and Bhudevi, blessed devotees by taking a procession through the streets of Tirumala on a golden chariot.
Thousands of devotees participated in the festival between 8 am and 10 am, pulling the chariot while chanting Govindanama. Sridevi (Lakshmi) adorned the golden chariot on one side, while Sriva and Sribhudevas were on the other. According to Hindu beliefs, gold has the power to improve blood circulation in the body and is considered a powerful metal. Therefore, riding on a golden chariot is considered a great honor for Swami.
Devotees believe that visiting the Golden Chariot festival can bring wealth and happiness with the compassion of Goddess Lakshmi and Bhudevi. Later, Swami visited the Vasantotsava Mandapam, where priests performed the Vasantotsava abhishekam. In the afternoon, Snapana Thirumanjanam was held grandly for the utsavars of Swami and Ammavar, anointing them with milk, curd, honey, coconut water, turmeric, and sandalwood.
The event was attended by Tirumala Peddajeyarswamy, Chinnajeyarswamy, TTD board members Maruti Prasad, Temple Deputy EO Ramesh Babu, VGO Balireddy, and other officials. The Golden Chariot festival is considered an essential event in Tirumala’s annual calendar, drawing thousands of devotees from all over the world to participate in this grand celebration.
