Hyderabad April 4
Perika Suresh, the National General Secretary of BC Welfare Association, has called for the installation of statues and portraits of Mahatma Jyoti Rao Phule, a social philosopher and activist who worked towards the upliftment of the downtrodden sections, in every central and state government office. He criticized the governments for not giving a proper place to Mahatma Jyoti Rao Phule, similar to national leaders Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. BR Ambedkar. Suresh demanded that the governments take steps in this direction before the upcoming Assembly and Parliament elections. He warned that if the governments fail to take action, the association will take up agitations, protest programs, and dharnas. Suresh also demanded that a BC Liaison Officer be appointed in every government department, expressing anger over the government’s neglect in this regard. The governments should respond immediately and appoint BC Licensing Officers, he added. The association’s demands come at a time when the state gears up for the upcoming elections.
