Hyderabad, April 13: TPCC President Revanth Reddy held a press meet at Gandhi Bhavan today, where he discussed the issue of KBR Park being destroyed for commercial purposes. Reddy stated that KBR Park is a landmark of Hyderabad city and has been preserved as a heritage in the united state. He added that the park is a historical heritage of Telangana, which was protected by 16 Chief Ministers who put strict rules in place.
However, in 2006, 5 acres of 30 pits of land were allotted for a five-star hotel by the then Congress government. The forest department had issued a notification, and later, the stake of Metas was acquired by ILMS, which was bought by Bangalore-based Mantri Developers. In 2012, GHMC allowed only 3 floors.
After the arrival of Telangana, the land mafia set its eyes on this land, and in 2016, the company applied for additional permits. The government allowed Mantri Developers in 2018, and in 2022, 3 floors underground and 12 floors above ground were allowed. Reddy accused KTR of breaking the rules for his friends, Satyam Raju, and stated that KTR is destroying the city and the history of Hyderabad city is disappearing.
Reddy appealed to the Walkers Association to file a public interest litigation on this matter, as the park has valuable flora and fauna along with national birds. He added that KCR’s family is destroying Telangana and turning Hyderabad into a polluted city. Reddy also criticized KCR for not responding to the looting in front of people and urged KTR to be sacked like Rajaiah was sacked.
In conclusion, Reddy stated that KCR should stop nature destruction and appealed to the people of Hyderabad to think about the situation. He invited people to gather for the Satyagraha Diksha tomorrow in Mancharya to protest against the disqualification of Rahul, with Mallikarjuna Kharge attending the initiation.
