on Kandukuri’s 75th Birth Anniversary

On the occasion of the 75th birth anniversary of the great social reformer Kandukuri Veeresalingam Pantulu, Rajahmundry MP Margani Bharat Ram announced the upgrade of Kandukuri Degree College to a University. The event was held at Ananda Gardens in Rajahmundry, East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, where MP Bharat and other dignitaries paid homage at the Veeresalingam couple’s graves.
MP Bharat praised Kandukuri Veeresalingam Pantulu for bravely standing against the social evils of his time. He hailed the great leader for his fight for women’s equal recognition, rights, and a special place in society. He also mentioned that Kandukuri boldly opposed superstitions and encouraged widow marriages, bringing bright lives to many women.
Reiterating his commitment to fulfilling Kandukuri’s ambitions, MP Bharat announced his aim to upgrade Kandukuri Degree College to a University, as per Kandukuri’s will. He also distributed new clothes to many poor students and women at the event.
Kandukuri Veeresalingam Pantulu was a pioneering social reformer, writer, and activist who is credited with bringing about significant social changes, especially in the areas of women’s rights and education, in Andhra Pradesh in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
