“Governor Bandaru Dattatraya distributes trophies at National Chess Tournament for Visually Challenged in Hyderabad”

Hyderabad, May 4, 2023 – Bandaru Dattatraya, the Hon’ble Governor of Haryana, graced the concluding day of the Open National Chess Tournament for Visually Challenged as the Chief Guest, which was held at the Devnar School for Blind in Hyderabad on May 4, 2023.
The Governor distributed trophies to the winners of the tournament, congratulating them on their achievements. Earlier in the day, Bandaru Dattatraya watched the match between K Rajan from Kerala and Ansh Ashvin Makwana, a 7-year-old from Gujarat.

The tournament provided a platform for visually challenged individuals to showcase their skills in chess and encouraged them to pursue their passion. The Governor’s presence at the event highlighted the importance of promoting inclusive sports and providing equal opportunities to all individuals, irrespective of their abilities.
The event was organized by the Devnar Foundation for the Blind, and it received overwhelming participation from players across the country. The successful conclusion of the tournament marks a significant milestone in promoting sports for the visually challenged in India.
