Bengaluru, May 19: Karnataka Congress President and designated Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar expressed that the upcoming swearing-in ceremony of the Congress government on May 20 will be a momentous occasion. Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Shivakumar emphasized that the new government, representing the voice of the people, will take shape on Saturday.
Shivakumar highlighted the presence of national leaders from the party who will be attending the ceremony, along with the implementation of guarantee schemes on the first day of the cabinet. He extended an invitation to all Congress workers and leaders through the media, urging them to attend the event. He also extended an invitation to leaders from other parties, including JD(S) and BJP, as they are part of the government.
Regarding the cabinet expansion, Shivakumar mentioned plans to meet with AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and Karnataka in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala to finalize the first stage of the cabinet’s composition.
When asked about regional or caste-based priorities in the cabinet formation, Shivakumar reiterated the commitment to fulfill the promises made to the people. He emphasized that unity and dedication were the driving forces, devoid of any caste or region-based preferences.
In response to questions about conditions for the guarantee schemes, Shivakumar clarified that these initiatives were not solely from Siddaramaiah or himself.
