New Delhi, May 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new Parliament House on Sunday, expressing his hope that this iconic building would serve as a cradle of empowerment and propel India towards new heights of progress.

In a tweet, Modi stated, “As the new building of India’s Parliament is inaugurated, our hearts and minds are filled with pride, hope, and promise. May this iconic building be a cradle of empowerment, igniting dreams and nurturing them into reality. May it propel our great nation to new heights of progress.” Accompanying his message were photographs capturing the inauguration ceremony of the new Parliament House.

Prime Minister Modi, along with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, performed ‘puja’ and ‘havan’ at the Parliament premises before officially inaugurating the new Parliament House. Additionally, he installed the historic ‘Sengol’ near the Lok Sabha Speaker’s chair in the new building.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by several ministers and dignitaries. However, twenty opposition parties, including the Congress, boycotted the event. The opposition accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of not inviting President Droupadi Murmu, viewing it as an “insult” to India’s first tribal President.
