Islamabad, May 28: A 6.0 magnitude earthquake, with its epicenter at the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region, shook parts of Pakistan on Sunday, as reported by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) and local media.

According to the PMD statement, the earthquake occurred at 10:50 a.m. and had a depth of 223km. The tremors were felt in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with reports of tremors also being experienced in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, as per Dawn news.

The provincial disaster management authority of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa stated that tremors were felt across different areas of the province, but their control room had not received any reports of damage so far.

Meanwhile, the United States Geological Survey, an American government agency that monitors seismic activity worldwide, reported a 5.2 magnitude earthquake striking 35km southeast of Jurm, Afghanistan, according to Dawn.

In March, a 6.8 magnitude earthquake had struck parts of the country, resulting in two fatalities and six injuries.
