Flyover Ramp Collapse in Hyderabad Injures 8 Workers, Sparks Quality Concerns

Hyderabad, June 21: In the early hours of Wednesday, a section of an under-construction flyover ramp in Hyderabad collapsed, resulting in the injury of eight workers. One of the injured individuals is said to be in critical condition. The incident took place at the Sagar Ring Road where the flyover is being constructed at a traffic intersection.

According to the police, the accident occurred while the workers were laying slabs on the pillars. Among those injured, an engineer and seven workers were immediately transferred to KIMS Hospital. The condition of one of the injured workers is reported to be critical. The injured individuals hail from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, with four of them identified as Rohit Kumar, Puneeth Kumar, Shankar Lal, and Jitender.

LB Nagar Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Sridhar Reddy, stated that a small section of the flyover collapsed during the slab-laying process. The police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. ACP Reddy mentioned that as the flyover construction is still ongoing, no action can be taken against the contractor for potential quality issues.

Rachakonda Police Commissioner D. S. Chuhan and LB Nagar Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sai Sri visited the accident site to assess the situation. Local MLA Sudheer Reddy also made a visit to the site and interacted with the workers. Opposition leaders from the Congress and BJP parties alleged that the accident occurred due to poor quality of work and negligence.

Flyover Incident Update:

Following the flyover incident in Hyderabad, an NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) team has arrived at the site, deploying a bus and a jeep to assist in the rescue and recovery operations. The injured workers have been promptly shifted to KIMS (Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences) for medical treatment and care.

The names of the injured individuals are as follows:

  1. Rohit Kumar (25) from Uttar Pradesh
  2. Puneeth Kumar (25)
  3. Shankar Lal (25)
  4. Ravikumar (26)
  5. Jitender Kumar (26) from Bihar
  6. Hareram (22)
  7. Vicky Kumar (23)

All the injured individuals belong to Rangareddy District. Additionally, Engineer Gopala Krishna (29) was also involved in the incident.
